I’m pleased to announce Attribute Changer 11.50, a release that marks an important milestone in the application’s history.
Over 27 years, Attribute Changer has grown feature by feature, with occasional refactoring of the legacy code along the way. But adding new capabilities kept getting harder, and it became clear the foundation deserved an overhaul.
Some months ago, I decided to use AI to review the source code. The results confirmed that the application was built on a solid foundation, but also highlighted some age-related architectural issues worth addressing. That review became the starting point for this release.
The result is a modernized application architecture. Historical leftovers have been removed, mature code has been refreshed and hardened, and the overall structure is now considerably easier to maintain and extend.
As part of this work, Attribute Changer is now a fully 64-bit application, running on Windows 10 (x64) and Windows 11 (x64/ARM). Focusing on a single modern platform keeps the code simpler to maintain.
Attribute Changer 11.50 is built on the updated architecture shown below.

This release also brings a number of fixes and smaller improvements.
Fixes
· Fixed an application crash when recursing deep trees with logging enabled
· Fixed changing of LNK shortcuts, which did not work
· The high-precision part of the NTFS timestamp is no longer reset to 0
New and changed
· Hold CTRL when clicking the Export button to choose a temporary export location
· Full-name rename options are now available in ‘All’ processing mode
· The folder location in the export dialog is now clickable and opens the report location
· New option to enable or disable the export confirmation message
· Date/time columns in the detailed report can be sorted chronologically
· The summary report now shows the elapsed processing time
· The shell extension has been rewritten in C++ for full ARM64 support
· Updated Inno Setup to version 7
· Revamped application architecture and code
